Axie Infinity is a Pokémon-inspired digital pet world built on the Ethereum blockchain, where anyone can earn token rewards for skilled gameplay and contributions to the ecosystem.
In order to create a better user experience and improve scalability, the Axie Infinity team is building a layer 2 sidechain called Ronin.

The AXS token is a platform for ERC-20 utility tokens for:
Governance: AXS token holders will be able to stake their tokens and participate in governance votes.
Staking: Players will be able to stake AXS to win weekly rewards.
Payment: Players can use AXS tokens to play games and make payments.

The current functions of Axie Infinity include:
Battle: The pets in the platform (ie Axie) can upgrade and evolve by fighting with each other.
Breeding: Axie can breed the next generation of pets.
Land: Axie's home and activity base. Lands can be upgraded using a range of in-game resources.
Marketplace: A decentralized Axie marketplace.
