DAOstack is the ExO toolkit, powering decentralized organizations, funds, and marketplaces to maximize rapid, innovative decision-making. GEN is the native token of the DAOstack platform. Basic operations of the DAOstack ecosystem, such as promoting proposals, will require paying GEN or holding GEN. GEN will distribute GEN through DAOstack's own framework, distribute it to valuable investors, and encourage the development, promotion and application of GEN.
DAOstack is an operating system of a new type of organization, namely DAO. Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO for short) integrates the imagination of talents in the blockchain field. However, their promise remains an abstraction, and one key point of failure is the lack of a solid framework for decentralized blockchain governance. On the basis of the DAO stack, Arc is an open and universal smart contract framework that can realize decentralized supervision and collective value management on the blockchain. Just as HTTP enables the creation and interoperability of websites and web applications, DAOstack enables the creation of web companies, collaborative applications, and DAOs, as well as the alignment of their interests, and ultimately builds a new open collaborative network. In this network, collectives can organize themselves around shared goals and values, going beyond pure economic growth. We believe this will be a critical step towards a more collaborative, sustainable future for society.
DAO stack
DAOstack provides the essential tools to create, operate and govern DAOs within and outside of a broader ecosystem. Overall, DAOs can be compared to Wordpress, which is to the blockchain what WordPress is to the web.
The DAOstack ecosystem consists of several different but interoperable DAOs. They interact with each other to maximize the potential benefits of open, distributed collaboration. On a technical level, all DAOs consist of a series of smart contracts deployed through Arc. Arc is a regulated Solidity framework that allows the creation, configuration, deployment and operation of DAOs on the Ethereum blockchain, possibly relying on IPFS as an overlay network for data storage and retrieval.
Users can interact with these DAOs directly by executing blockchain transactions, or indirectly through specific front-ends that rely on the underlying blockchain ecosystem. Alchemy is a collaborative DApp developed within DAOstack that enables anyone to create a new agent or DAO and collaborate with others in the DAOstack ecosystem. It relies on Arc.js. Arc.js is a JavaScript library that runs the Arc Solidity framework through Web3.js. It is designed to make it easy for front-end JavaScript developers to create collaborative applications on Arc without directly interacting with Solidity code or the Ethereum blockchain. ArcHives is a suite of public registries, content curated by the DAOstack community and serving its global ecosystem. This is where the ecosystem and network effects are built.
Arc
Arc is the basic operating system of DAO, which is the general regulatory framework for the interactive Internet of blockchain agents. It is an open-source, modular and general-purpose framework design with an open template regulatory module or element library that can evolve according to user needs. Additionally, it enables easy upgrades and governance system modifications to better suit organizational needs over time.
Arc is not limited to a specific set of governance systems, allowing third parties to create their own elements as needed. By combining the available elements, each agent can implement its own governance system. The system clarifies the rules for the issuance, management and distribution of scarce resources, including transferable assets (such as tokens) and non-transferable assets (such as reputation).
Structure
Arc elegantly implements the basic decomposition of the governance system discussed in the previous chapter in smart contracts, including: operations, schemes, and global constraints that each agent can construct.
Arc.JS
Arc is a fairly extended Solidity framework, and its integration requires proficiency in the Solidity smart contract programming language and the Ethereum blockchain. To make it easy for enthusiastic front-end (JavaScript) developers to integrate third-party applications, we designed Arc.js as a simple JavaScript gate.
Arc.js is a JavaScript library built on top of Web3.js (Ethereum's JavaScript API). Through Arc.js, any function of the Arc framework can be directly called in the JavaScript environment without mastering the Solidity programming language.
The ArcHives
Arc is the basic operating layer of the DAOstack ecosystem, and ArcHives is a shared, content-managed record. Shared, content-curated databases can be very powerful, providing a central point for data integrity and data quality; but more importantly, they are the center of ecosystem network effects and open ecosystem monetization (i.e. business models) center of. In the following, we introduce the basic ArcHives of DAOstack: Compendium, Mosaic, and Hive Registries, and explain the monetization model behind them. In addition, each agency or DAO can have its own independent registration platform, especially DAOstack can have many other registration platforms in the future.
Alchemy
The DAO stack is designed to make it easy for independent developers and third parties to develop their own collaborative applications on Arc and integrate with the DAO stack and its community. At the same time, DAOstack itself has developed a local collaborative DApp to easily interact with Arc: open agents and DAOs, configure their governance protocols, formulate proposals, vote on existing proposals, and collaborate with others on projects, etc. It aims to be the first interface to this new world of work and organization.
DAOstack's collective concern token, GEN, has a core utility in the governance of decentralized organizations: helping them scale efficiently without compromising their values. Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) can formulate any imaginable goal or purpose, so, unlike Ethereum, GEN has the potential to power a diverse ecosystem of collaborative organizations and applications.
