Ignis is Ardor's first child chain, using Ignis tokens to operate. Ardor's unique design allows multiple chains (called child chains) to exist simultaneously, with many functions, and security guaranteed at a global level by its parent chain, Ardor.
Lightweight Contracts
Lightweight Contracts provide an automation layer on top of the Ardor Platform API. Unlike traditional smart contracts, they are not executed by every blockchain node.
This flexible design allows rapid development and deployment of contracts, as well as interaction with external systems. Stateless lightweight contracts are much more secure than traditional stateful smart contracts. A breach of contract or a malicious contract will not cause damage to the entire network - at best only the nodes on which it is running.
Privacy
All Ignis transactions are stored on a public ledger that can be viewed or verified by anyone. However, certain use cases require a higher level of privacy.
Ignis supports a coin shuffling algorithm that allows multiple users to shuffle equal amounts of tokens into a newly initialized recipient account without any connection to the source account.
Ignis natively supports encrypted messages. Message-specific encryption keys can be used to securely share these keys with third parties.
Advanced Transaction Control
Ignis supports a sophisticated multi-signature feature called Account Control. Transactions submitted from accounts under this control are subject to a mandatory approval process.
Account control is based on phase characteristics using defined approved models. Composite approval models can be created from base models using combinations of Boolean operators.
Asset transactions can be similarly restricted using the Asset Control feature.
Decentralized exchanges
The Ardor platform features three different types of fully decentralized exchanges, as well as a state-of-the-art blockchain order matching engine.
Coin Exchange supports the transaction of all child chain tokens and ARDR parent chain tokens.
Asset Exchange manages the issuance and trading of security tokens that can represent company shares with convenient features such as voting and dividend payments.
The currency system provides specialized token types that can be used for crowdfunding, voting, etc.
