The Open Network (TON) is a fast, secure and scalable blockchain and network project capable of processing millions of transactions per second for the convenience of both users and service providers. TON coins are used to pay for deposits required to become validators; transaction fees, gas payments (i.e. smart contract message processing fees), and persistent storage payments are also typically charged in TON coins.
Project Introduction
TON is a PoS layer 1 network. It can be infinitely fragmented and achieve millions of TPS, carrying billions of users, smart contracts, and decentralized applications. TON can access other blockchains and connect different blockchains to each other through the original HyperCube technology.
In addition to the TON public chain, TON has developed storage, sites, and DNS services to further improve the network, enabling different blockchain shards in the network to communicate with each other and access websites and files.
TON's goal is to become a Web3.0 network including decentralized storage, I2P network, instant payment and highly usable decentralized applications.
Telegram started this project in 2019, but it was discontinued in June 2020. Since then, this network has continued to be supported by TON's open source community.
